Introduction to Garden Design

This is an exciting 6 week course, presented in a leisurely manner to small groups. This course is aimed at beginners and keen gardeners that want to learn more about garden design and drawing, design principles, planting design and horticulture, different styles and themes in the garden, and practical aspects, such as, measuring and scale, site analysis and client interviews. The course is perfect for people wanting to improve their own gardens, new home owners that don't know where to start or garden lovers that want to know more. The enthusiastic gardener seeking advice or the garden novice wishing to design their own or friends' gardens will find that this course is just what they are looking for! 

The course can be presented in a condensed three day format for larger group bookings to nurseries, garden clubs or other functions, outside of Pretoria. This can be arranged through the office.

Full time Professional Course

The full time professional course is presented three mornings a week for 1 year, allowing two days for students to work in the landscaping industry. This course is aimed at people of all age groups who would like to become a professional landscape designer. This course offers practical experience, design and theory work, as well as computer skills required in this growing industry. This is an extensive course that offers ample time to cover more practical design work in class than the part time professional course. Practical design work and theory examinations will be assessed at the end of every term to maintain the high standards set by the governing landscaping bodies (see course accreditation for the affiliated landscaping bodies). It is endorsed by leading landscape designers, architects and Landscape architects, and students registering for this course after 2010 might be eligible to be registered to leading institutions like SALI depending on their performance.

Part time Professional Course

The part time professional course is presented one evening per week.

Enrolments for courses presented from January to December have classes every Tuesday evening and one Saturday morning per month. Students enrolled for courses presented from July to July have  classes on Wednesday evenings. This course is aimed at people of all age groups who would like to become a professional landscape designer, but can't devote the time during the day and would like to do it after hours. Practical design work and theory examinations will be assessed at the end of every term to maintain the high standards set by the governing landscaping bodies (see course accreditation for the affiliated landscaping bodies). It is endorsed by leading landscape designers, architects and Landscape architects, and students registering for this course after 2010 might be eligible to be registered to leading institutions like SALI depending on their performance.

My Garden Course  

Rent a Landscape designer for a morning. This exciting new course is presented with you at a venue of your choice. This course enables you to design your own garden with the skill of a Landscape designer. The course will include one morning of measuring and design with your input, and the plans will be drawn up by the Landscape designer. This allows the student to have more input into their own garden. You will design your garden with the help of a professional, and get plans drawn up in an accurate electronic format, and still learn from the process.

Course Module Only  

Landscapers can now enjoy the benefit of focusing on aspects that they would like to improve on or know more of by simple enrolling for a specific module. This is the perfect way to keep employees up to date and enjoy specific course modules on its own. Students for course module only components will join the 1 year professional courses and have a choice of attending the full time or after hour's courses.

Project Practice Course

This course runs through an already designed project explaining all aspects from site analysis and inventory, concept formulation and conceptualization right through to plans and technical details.

This is a wonderful refresher course keeping students up to date with trends and to see how projects and designs work from start to finish.
