Introduction to Garden Design
This course is designed to help participants learn the exciting process of garden design and to plan one complete project.

The lectures will be presented by Helen Lachenicht, who has studied garden design and taken part in prestigious garden shows and won top awards. Helen has also co-authored a best selling book called "Making Sense of Garden Design".
Please don't hesitate to contact me should you need more detail than is given below. Some of the lectures will be done on a workshop basis, where you will be able to discuss and develop your own individual garden design ideas.
The introductory course will cover the following aspects :
· Principles of Design
· Planting Design
· Styles & Themes
· Research - site analysis and client interviews
· Soft & Hard Landscaping
· Designing the floor plan (patterning)
· Quantities and Budget
· The Planting Plan - in relation to the Garden Design
· Revamping an Existing Garden
· Guest Lectures :
o Landscaping Slopes & Levels
o Retaining Walls
o Paths & Patios
o Water Features
This course consists of six workshop lectures, over six weeks and will be presented Wednesday mornings, 9:30am to 12:30pm or Saturday mornings, 9:30am to 12:30pm, as long as we meet our mininum number of six participants per course.
