Our Students

Our students come from all walks of life. From school going children who have used the short course to find direction for their futures to professionals wanting to change careers. Others want to learn to design their own gardens, some are traveling and want to learn appreciation of garden design and others want to develop a paying hobby.

All students are given the opportunity to be involved in our garden shows. These are done at Plantland Cornwall Hill in April and September annually. The students choose an overall theme which is then used for individual designs. Plantland then provide all materials and plants for a mutually beneficial experience. Much fun is had but more important is the valuable experience of putting into practice the design principles learned during the course.

Helen is always astounded and humbled at the results of her students. She does not interfere in any way with their designs and is delighted to hear the words "next time..." as this is a clear indication of learning.

Several of our student groups have formed garden clubs and stay in contact with each other. There is of course a wonderful resource for networking among each other. The student's different talents combine to benefit all.

For Helen it is a bonus that so many people are finding new friends with mutual interests as well as being enabled to design their own gardens and develop paying hobbies.

For our garden loving students the biggest plus is that they can now design their own gardens to reflect their own personal tastes.
