INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE!!

"Making Sense of Garden Design"

Helen Lachenicht who is the Principal and owner of Irene Garden Design School, as well as our prestigious Irene Garden Design Studio, and co-author of the book "Making Sense of Garden Design," was recently invited to speak in Zambia.  Lee Burger, who has a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture and is the principal lecturer of our one-year course in Landscape Design accompanied her.

The Lusaka Garden Club of Zambia, which is way more 150 members strong, recently had a weekend set aside to hear a series of talks from our Helen Lachenicht, based on the book "Making Sense of Garden Design."  She was assisted by Lee Burger, who highlighted certain aspects of Garden Design that are within his own area of expertise in Landscape Design.

This is an exciting first for our school and an experience that Helen would like to repeat frequently in the future.  The talks were extremely well received and we have had fantastic feedback from the participants.

On a more personal note, Helen and Lee loved Zambia and meeting the people.  Zambia also went through a time of hardship and difficulty, but have come through it with a very positive outlook.  The people Helen and Lee interacted with were very concerned about South Africa and the well-being of our people.  They offered great encouragement and optimism about our future as a free and democratic country.  Hang in there South Africa!  Zambia has done it and so can we.
